Arif Mahmood was born in Karachi in 1960. Since 1989 he has photographed for most magazines and newspapers of the country. His photography has featured in international publications include Newsweek, Khaleej Times, Gulf news, Arabian Women and Private Magazine. His recent photographic group shows include “Where three dreams Cross, 150 years of Photography in India, Pakistan and Bangladesh”, at the White Chapel Gallery London and the Fotomuseum Winterthur Zurich, ”Hanging Fire” at the Asia Society Museum, New York, comprising of contemporary works of 15 artists from Pakistan. Two of his photographs are in the Fine Arts Houston Museum’s permanent collection. Presently he is working as the Chief Operating Officer at White Star Photo Pvt Ltd a private photographic firm based in Karachi.
